Power is a fashion statement.

In punjabi, we say ਤਾਕਤ or "takat" which translates to "power" in english. I always thought that power was something that one attained through possessions or positions in the world, and that's true to some extent. But I have learned and continue to learn that real power, comes from within. It is only if you possess that power and that confidence in yourself, that you can go on and make anything that you want happen. In doing so, whether the world sees or claims you as powerful no longer matters because you are powerful - in your life, in your actions, and in your eyes. That's ultimately the goal that we all aspire to achieve, isn't it? The only person that I am in competition with, is myself. The only person that I wish to impress the most, is myself. It's all about making your inner equilibrium so unshakable that at the end of the day, nothing can phase you. That's real power. From personal experience I think part of that power comes from feeling good about yourself. It comes from not only feeling satisfied with the person that you are on the inside, but also from being satisfied with the picture that you portray to the world on the outside. Fashion helps you make that statement and after all, in my world, it is all about the visuals. I love seeing that instant boost of confidence in people when they not only feel good, but look good as well. One without the other is okay, but I think we can all agree that together, they make a killer duo. It's a tried and true theory - you look good, you feel good. You feel good, you radiate positive energy into the universe, and boom! You're unstoppable. That is the one thing that intrigues me the most about fashion as a whole. How an article of clothing can not only positively change your physical appearance but also change your mindset mentally. Like I said, it's all in the visuals.

Today's look revolves around my idea of a powerful ensemble. Silver hardware, the color black, a subtly sexy but not over the top aspect, and some killer sunnies to block out the haters (and the sun because it harms your eyes, duh.) Put me in an outfit that has all these components, and I'm ready to take on the world - heels can't even phase me.

My long sleeve tee was sent to me by 337brand and it is one of the comfiest shirts that I have ever owned that still has the ability to look dressy, and badass. If you know me, then you know that this will definitely be a statement piece in my wardrobe. You can get yours at 337brand.com

Pants are my all time favorite rider pants in black from American Apparel. I've had this pair since high school, and I'm not planning on getting rid of them anytime soon. Lastly, silver hardware details - Belt from Missguided -Shoes and sunnies from Urban Outfitters - Choker from Prettylittlething - NineWest bracelet.

I am seriously going to live in this 337Brand shirt. No lie.

Stay Electric. xoxo,

- Gur
